I was staggered to read across the top of the Herald’s website on Friday,
“Epsom brothel murder. Manager who bashed man to death with wooden pole jailed.”
This is a clear case of judicial racism, the offender being Chinese.
Had he been maori it would have been 6 months home detention, thanks of course to the accused’s “commendable guilty plea and expressed remorse,” these the normal justification for non-punitive sentences.
We must surely have the lightest penalties in the world for serious crime.
