THE REALITY ABOUT CHRISTIANITY

The most astute truth ever said about Christianity was uttered by the usually taciturn great 1930s-40s heavyweight champion, Joe Louis.

Joe commented, “Everybody wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die”.

He was right of course for if Christians really believed in the post-death tosh they preach about an eternal heavenly existence, they’d be eager to get there.

Note I refer to Christians and not “the religious” for Joe’s maxim certainly doesn’t apply to Muslims.

I’d wager the Gaza genocide has created many hundreds of thousands of young male Muslim fanatics, all eager to sacrifice their lives in return for killing Israelis.

In that respect, and to finish on a happy note, some years back our greatest ever cartoonist, Tom Scott, penned a marvelously funny cartoon on the promise made to Islamic fanatics of the heavenly paradise reward in return for sacrificing their lives, namely 60 virgins awaiting them in heaven.

Tom showed in the first sketch a Muslim fanatic exploding a bomb, then a massive explosion.

The final sketch showed the fanatic arriving in heaven, horror-struck as 60 elderly catholic nuns race towards him with outstretched arms.

In these troubled times we could certainly do with Tom’s observations to lighten our day.

What happens when female martyrs go to Paradise? Are they one of the 60 virgins sent to pleasure the recently exploded males, or do they get their own stable of 60 toyboys?

I spoke with a friend of mine on medicine advice over the weekend. By the sounds of things, there is no better time to holiday in Ko Sami. Apparently, not busy at all.

With both parents passing away early from genetic illness, and his partners near death experience, he has been wise enough to semi retire early, recognising there is no nirvana waiting for us.

Heres hoping we can join them next year on another Asian adventure…

Meanwhile, I’ll keep writing reports to keep the money supply expanding…

The actual number of virgins differs with different Muslim sects but I haven’t heard anywhere that the virgins have to be female.
It raises interesting possibilities.

I don’t envy religious people.
No matter what faith to which you subscribe, the cognitive dissonance must get almost overwhelming at times.

Organised religion at best is a collection of useful myths that can help you lead a better and more productive life.
At worst it is a cult and an extortion racket especially the variations that have a “sin now, pay later” option.
It definitely doesn’t have a monopoly on wisdom. The ancient Greeks “everything in moderation” and Paracelsus “everything’s a poison, what’s important is the dose” are still very relevant today.

Yes I agree , but that Tom Scott cartoon would not be published today Bob- in that sense we have de facto sharia law in non-Muslim countries. What an extraordinary dark age we are entering into.

Here’s another quote “everyone knows they’re going to die but very few beleive it”

If they did, they wouldn’t be dismissive of the claims of the one who rose from the dead.

Religions biggest asset is fear. Don’t do what we say, burn in hell for mainstream religions. Exclusive Brethren and Jehovahs Witnesses, step out of line and family and friends will disown you. Brian Tamakis mob protesting that drag queens were teaching kids. Look at the figures about the most prominent molesters of children. It ain’t drag quuens.

Eager to kill Israelis? The Islamists/Jihadis have been obsessed with killing Jews since inception; their founder boasted of personally beheading hundreds at Medina in AD627 and wiping out the entire community. Nothing’s changed, and it’s not just Jews.

With all the people I observe preaching brotherly love, praise the Lord and pass the plate, Heaven is the last place I want to be!

Joe Louis spoke the truth of his time, which was a period of pessimism.

But times are changing and our future leaders will be young.

Young leaders who question the past.

It will be out with the old and in with the new, and the new will expect good things.
