PLEASE, PLEASE LOOK AT ME

My phone rang twice early in the morning a week back. “Have you read the morning paper yet?” the callers asked, “he’s at it again”.

They were referring to Dunedin’s perennial attention-seeker, Sir Ian Taylor, who has come up with a new self-publicity ploy.

He opened the batting with a full page newspaper photo, surprise, surprise of himself and followed this up with half page photos in further editions again of himself.

These are promoting a scheme he’s devised which he’s called “Share my super”. He’s soliciting superannuants to share some of their government super to give to what he describes as our “forgotten moko”.

Taylor is a rich-lister, deservedly I hasten to add following the usual struggles, he created a successful business. We know that as he has told us all about it in great detail in previous self-publicity efforts.

But here’s a question for Ian to ponder.

Why given his wealth is he even taking the government super? I’ve been eligible for nigh on a quarter century and like every other affluent friend I know, I wouldn’t dream of claiming it as I (and they) don’t need it.

There’s no question on his will to succeed, however like any business; especially in technology, there is always someone snapping on your heels.

Maybe he is just trying to diversify his earnings, and has a genuine interest encouraging people into compulsory savings.

I’ve met him personally, he doesnt strike me as a greedy person.

i had to look it up ,to see what generosity looks like, $800 a week for a couple… how many is he thinking of splitting that with ?

I couldn’t agree more Ian Taylor is a self righteous prick who criticises this government and in particular David Seymour for everything that he says and does

I find his new found patronising attitude very annoying.
Why does he suddenly have the need to tell us how to live our lives.
A wealthy socialist?

Shareholders we’re screwed by Mr Taylor, shortly after the first televised America’s cup that showed the “trackman” type positioning of the boats.
This fraudulent activity by him cost people a lot of money.

Therein lies the perpetual immoral entitlement to state funded universal Super.
On the one hand the very wealthy possibly with millions in assets and millions in incomes can receive full entitlement to Super, lauded as unaffective by assets or income but on the other hand, we Kiwis and immigrants who have worked overseas and paid into state pensions schemes along with for many of us UK state pensioners, our employers as well, 57,000+ of us.
But such pensions are not allowed alongside Super cus the mantra is you can’t receive 2 state pensions.
Very true if they’re both state funded but not if one is paid for.
It’s a cash cow for MSD costing victims billions over decades.
Official figures show over 100,000 victims from 75 countries.
In 2011 Act promised reform as did Labour 2014 and both reneged when in power, Arden came to power in 2017 and did nothing, we still suffered under the saviour of the world.
Here she is in 2015 on Utube moaning g about it.
