Tuning regularly in to Sky Australia in recent weeks for reports on the horrific bushfires, two highly regrettably trends have emerged.
First; Following the ludicrous American practice it now seems no Aussie fire chief or politician is capable of conducting a television press conference without a backdrop horde of officials standing mutely behind him. Why? Fashionable but much worse is the farcical distraction of ridiculous gestulating sign language exponents, waving their arms accompanied by facial contortions.
For God’s sake; less than 1% of Aussies are stone deaf. I can’t believe sign language can deliver more than screen captions. That cuts out the probably 0.001% of folk who are both blind and stone deaf but they wouldn’t be watching television if blind.
This nonsense is a pretentious absurdity.
