WORLD CLASS TOSH

Since I learnt to read, I’ve averaged a minimum 8 hours daily in this pursuit of both entertainment and information. In total that adds up over my life-time to circa 240,000 hours I’ve spent with my nose in a book, magazine or newspaper.

I can unhesitantly say that never in that time have I read such world-class meaningless, pretentious drivel as a half page article over the names of Sir Bob Harvey and Sir Ian Taylor, published recently in the NZ Herald.

First of course is the mystery of two authors. Did they jointly hold the pen or each write a sentence?

Inexplicably, periodically lapsing into maori, the guts of the article was how to boost Auckland by attracting entrepreneurs, tourists and whoever to the city.

Constantly quoting as an example, the mythical figure of Maui who fished up the North Island they propose the creation on the waterfront of a museum outlining “the greatest story in the history of human migration” (I’m not making this up) namely the arrival of the first maori navigators here “guided by the stars”. A navigator is someone providing the directions to a known destination, which is most certainly not how the first maori arrivals can been described.

But if Harvey and Taylor genuinely believe that a waterfront museum filled with mythological nonsense will spawn a massive change of direction by, for example tens of millions of tourists, promptly scrubbing Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Thailand et al to instead pour into Auckland, then the asylum beckons and probably strait jackets for them both.

I have the answer to save them from further such embarrassing foolishness. They should acquire a mistress; one each at first to open the batting then a few more to build a small stable which preoccupation will hopefully help them regain their plainly now lost sanity.

One suspects if they have wives, these long suffering women, assuming they cop this sort of crap on the home front, will be hugely relieved to escape listening to further such nonsense and will happily encourage them in this new pursuit.

A wonderful analysis of the type of crap which the Herald puts out these days
The two idiots being interviewed plus the journos who wrote this garbage deserve the avalanche of ridicule coming their way .
Sad how the awarding of top honours these days such as knighthoods is tainted by political favour rather than merit.

Hard to believe that there is a whole Govt dept created by the notion of maori navigation.

BOB!! You are a bloody TREASURE! So sensible and no s_it sherlock!!! If only there was more like you.
KEEP ON

Indeed it was drivel from people who should know better.

Oh so now we have a the greatest story of migration in history by great navigators. Does this mean that Māori cannot be considered indigenous then ?

Correct, but those who arrived before them, possibly.

Bob Harvey has always been a complete fantasist. He has always claimed that Norman Kirk was murdered by the CIA despite all the medical evidence to the contrary.

Bob please continue to give your straight talking point of view. Some thing for you to comment on! I have a Granddaughter finishing High School this year. She has two more days of official school then home on study leave. For Christ sake these teachers are being paid for a full year work. I think including the public holidays they do not teach for three months of the year. They have school sports tournaments in school time now. They have time off school for refresher meetings and union meeting in school time. No bloody wonder we are the worst in the world at education. My Dad use to come and stay with his parents( he was Headmaster at Kopu at the time) and in Onehunga and work at the freezing works for extra money for family holidays etc. God almighty if teachers had to get a secondary job these days. NEW ZEALANDERs from the last three generations do not know how to work any more. Sorry there are very few sensible ones around but mostly they all want to suck the Government gravy train. Thank you again Bob

I’m not certain there are any mistresses who would take the job on?
