NEWSPAPER CORRESPONDENCE

Putting aside the blowhard regulars, mostly I suspect, retired males with nothing else in their lives, I derive much pleasure from many of the letter writers.

Some make sensible contributions; others in the hand wringing category for whom the sky is always falling, provide huge amusement.

A classic in this category popped up in The Post recently.

This was from a Marion Lienert of Berhampore who wrote an alarmist letter about the dangers of relying on South Island dams for our electricity generation.

“We are totally dependent on rain between now and October,” Marion wrote.

Marion need worry no more. I will personally guarantee rain will fall in the South Island in those quoted 10 months.

….and the snow will melt which provides much of water for our South Island hydro dams.

And The Post published this whim of Marion’s fancy. Astonishing – no. Would they publish commentary adverse to maori – no.

Have you seen latest degree title offered by Victoria university SB ?

NZ liberalism and whether forecasting rain by NZ Liberalists resposible for the weather forecast, should do a runner or not.
Depending on whether the weather is forecast.

Oh dear dear SB !
Can see why political studies and law are a principled sensible alternative.
Thank goodness for cleaners.

A reasonable man.
Thank goodness.
