I’ve come to the conclusion that humanity can be divided into two categories.
First and by far the largest group are those who largely accept the world as they find it. They might occasionally grumble about some things but will do absolutely nothing about them.
The other category are the minority who constantly think about the future, try and anticipate things the way they may be so as to dodge the hypothetical bullets, but on a more positive note, when thinking about the future, look for changes that are exploitable.
This category is the section of society that saw our distant ancestors drop from the trees and have been responsible for all that’s good in our history, but equally all that’s bad, notably warfare.
The futurists however, bear a burden. That is that the future never actually comes as by definition, it’s always ahead of one.
So they live in a permanent state of activism, forever committed to change.
Still, on balance, their lives are immensely more interesting than the cabbage-like majority’s.

A good post, Sir Bob
I always refer to the adage that the are three types of people: those who make things happen; those who watch things happen; and those who wonder what happened.
Spot on…
I would add the best place to be is in control of your own destiny, and live where you are as oblivious as on can be to the chaos outside your gateway..
Or else the Makers and the Takers. We are moving to a society where a significant number of people are expecting others to produce the wealth that can then be shared by all without making the effort to contribute in any material fashion. As AI becomes more of a feature in everyone’s lives I am concerned that the World will end up with a whole of useless people who contribute nothing towards the common wealth. For how long will those “Makers” who are left in power put up with these drones that become useless dead weights, probably spending their time copulating and producing more and more useless offspring in the absence of more “productive” efforts. Is the expectation of free school lunches an early example of this? Why make lunch for your kids when the “government” provides?
Far better for it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though chequered with failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much. Because they live in the grey twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.
The way things are these days its lucky we will be dead soon lol
I divide humanity into the rational and the irrational.
The rational improve our lives and the irrational either intentionally or unintentionally make our lives worse.
Having been a cabbage most of my adult life, i understand now 3 things which determine peoples life conditions.
individual Kharma , ones souls purpose and level of consciousness,
clean up your baggage all your fears ,inhabitions, expand your awearness of your self ( which will happen if you do the first thing ) and the world around you ( discover how the world actually works – is it rotten to the core? ) souls purpose seems a bit set in stone but i guess it can be ignored.
this is not a well trodden path its easy to do but, never the less, the easy things are hard and the hard things are easy…
If you do this i promise all the plattitudes and second hand thinking falls away. youll begin to see it. it’ll be scarey, how scarey ? depends on how mature you are. your current way of operating will definatly change replaced by authentic thinking and living, sounds like utter rubbish eh ? which is why no one does it. falling at the very first hurdle.
Here’s the telethon challenge,
I dare you, tonight, stand naked in front of the bathroom mirror, look your self up and down, let it all hang out, stare into your own eyes, and ask…” am i full of shit.?” then go to bed.
do that 3 nights running.
there are other ways, modalities for the hardcore amoungst us but i’m not going to explain them. you’ll figure it out if you have genuine intentions. there is a threshold you have to pass, your own rubicon, designed i belive to turn back the missguided and the bewildered to keep them safe.
still sounds like shit eh..! a load of old codswhallop… because it is. in the end.
People NEED to understand
FOR GODS SAKE
I didn’t get where i am today wasting time trying to get where I am today ,or listening to the opinions of others who’d like to be where I am today.
Simple
Got it ?

It was GB Shaw—
The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable man persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.’
