With this morning’s newspaper is a printed invitation from a furnishing store.
It’s headed “This is your exclusive invitation to preview the McKenzie and Willis End of Year Sale. 12th Sept. 5.30pm-7.30pm.”
Suggesting an invitation to 36,000 unknown newspaper subscribers is exclusive, is world-class language abuse.
Maybe they ran-off a single exclusive copy of that page of the paper just for you. . .
Indeed. As per the influential philosopher Marx (Groucho, not Karl):
“I don’t care to belong to any club which will have me as a member”.
Naw! “Ultimate” is the most over and poorly used adjective. “Exclusive” is not far behind……..
Damn! And here’s me thinking I was special …you’ve dashed my dream.
