A recent crossword question in the local freebie newspaper was “Internationally renown fashion show staged annually in Wellington” and the answer, “WOW” (World of Wearable art.) Several points arise.

The Herald reports a doubling of brawling and assaults in our women’s prisons in the past year. Corrections attributed this to those inmates’ gang affiliations. What a surprise!

The age-old trouble with the left is their sense of righteous leading to their belief that the wider world largely subscribes to their views. This is grand scale naivety, probably the left’s most conspicuous feature. We saw it illustrated with Trump’s recent typically crass twitter, “When the looting starts, the shooting starts,” this bringing the predictable outcry from the predictable sources.

Derek Chauvin is a dead man walking. His deliberate murder of George Floyd, one hand nonchalantly in his pocket, over a tortuous near 9 minutes and despite pleadings from bystanders, was his own death sentence.

A week back we were as always, hugely entertained by the farcical annual journalism awards. Once again both the Herald and the Stuff fleet bragged of being the big winners, as they do each year.
