COVID HYSTERIA

To date over 40% of our population have now been infected with covid and circa 1500 currently cop it each new week. Some die, some suffer a nasty flu-like reaction, others are virtually unaffected. Mask-wearing is now almost unknown.

As with the rest of the civilised world we’ve learnt to live with it and get on with life, just as we’ve always done with numerous life-threatening risks, be it driving, swimming, physically demanding sport and so on.

In short we’re finally now treating it as so many, myself included on this site, argued 3 years back. Instead we copped the government’s grossly authoritarian actions up until 6 months back, with ludicrously oppressive lock-down rules to a degree that will forever remain a stain on our history. And in an election year, the Prime Minister delivering totally unnecessary daily 1pm television broadcasts from the pulpit of truth to a fear-ridden nation will go down as the greatest abuse of public office in this country’s history. The political value of such excessive television exposure was huge, as the last election revealed.

As I’ve often written, Labour governments have commendably shaped modern New Zealand for the better, notwithstanding some inevitable blunders and excesses. But I have absolutely no doubt the current one, with the perspective of time, will be recorded as the most incompetent and socially and economically destructive in our history.

They leave a legacy of massive needless debt, a badly damaged economy with thousands of small businesses destroyed, a history of slap-dash financial irresponsibility and ironically, of an unknown but reportedly sizeable number of preventable deaths with the ceasure of life-saving operations following the closure of surgical activity for a lengthy period in 2021. But perhaps their greatest crime is their disgraceful attempt to abolish the most basic underlying principle of democracy, namely one vote per adult and not the 2% of the population who can claim 50% or more of maori ethnicity receiving half of the management function of public institutions based on ethnicity. This they described as co-government which they endeavoured to justify on a totally bogus interpretation of the Treaty.

But back to the disgraceful lockdown. With that I have a simple question the media should put to Chris Hipkins. That is, “You were at the forefront backing the lock-downs. Given that several thousand New Zealanders are currently catching Covid each week and many dying, why was it right then but not now to lock us all down?”

I hear you Sir Bob, I also argued the same week the “pandemic” was announced the lack of common sense. I did a quite simple calculation then which was to calculate potential total deaths if a 100% of the population were to be infected. Out of 8 billion people in the planet that added up to around 75 million could die. Which happens to be about 0.9% of the population… don’t get me wrong as bad as it sounds for 75 million people to die the world would not stop… not for something that impacts 0.9% of the population. In comparison preventable diseases kill far more than that… per year… and we do not stop the world for those diseases… so, what’s different about this one? panic and click baiting that is what. The kicker being that the actual worldwide death toll to date is about 7 million people… 0.0875% of the total population… how many people were inconvenienced by the resurgence of socialism/communism/dictatorship? 8 billion.

Spot on.

Chris Hipkins would hopefully say something like “The majority of us are now vaccinated and are therefore less likely to end up in Hospital. Our Hospitals could not have coped when Covid originally entered New Zealand because the population was unvaccinated. If we had of followed Sweden’s example of no lock downs, our Covid deaths would have increased by about 8,000 based upon their per capita deaths.”

Agree with the bulk of what you say but the current Covid level is with a large number vaccinated With some residual A major issue was that they sat on their hands procuring the vaccines which created the major lockdown periods

And Jacinda wonders why so many people are angry with her…..She wrecked alot of peoples livelihoods, and left the next generation with needless debt….

As with most politicians (especially left leaning), inexperienced idealists have no place running a fish and chip shops, let alone a country…

Good (at lieing) communicators have their place, but they have served this country poorly…

Not forgetting of course, the huge numbers of folk with adverse reaction to the (mandated) jab. This is a running sore that will continue for many years. Apparently 1 in 800 have a problem. The MOH chose to ignore warnings and advise from Pfizzer from over a year ago.
Then we see the excess deaths and reduced fertility, globally.
What a disaster it has been.

imho the cure is the disease. It doesn’t cure anything, let alone prevent the spread of it.

New Zealand : Hysterical Daughter.

A joke. What is the difference between calamity and disaster? Let’s say a group from the current Govt visit say Queenstown, and go cruising on the lake. There, for what ever reason the boat sinks and they end up in the water..That is calamity. If they are rescued, that is disaster.

There is also a considerable legacy of bitterness. I grew up in Ch-Ch leaving for Australia around the time of the earthquake. Like many thousands of NZ citizens, I am bitter at the government denying me one of the principle benefits of being a citizen-the right to travel to NZ as I saw fit (whilst being demonstrably free of any COVID). Many people I know missed weddings, funerals, graduations, final moments with terminally ill family & friends etc.
This kind of thing is not easily forgotten or forgiven.

I think you will find the current omicron strain of covid is far less virulent than some of the earlier strains therefore treated differently accordingly.
