Over the last six months it’s become fashionable for our advertising agencies to use maoris in their television advertisements.
With only a single exception, they are always portrayed as obese simpering simpletons.
On the other hand European models in these adverts are usually physically attractive.
I’m amazed that no protest for this disgrace has arisen.
I’m also stunned that the maori models in these adverts allow themselves to be portrayed in this fashion.
Why advertising agencies are doing this I do not know. Even more puzzling is why their clientele are allowing this distortion, more so as some are government agencies.

It’s getting very difficult to find European males in TV advertisements these days.
There seems to be a tendency for just about every couple to be portrayed as a diversity-friendly pairing of an attractive blonde female and a male of possibly African heritage.
It’s about the money , not the message
I couldn’t agree more, been going on for 5 years or more! Not surprising the advertisers are backing off, their ads don’t work!
It might have something to do with ESG sores. The more “diversity” the higher your Environmental Social and Governance score. Fill your business and it’s ads with trans queer brown people and your score goes up.
There’s also the “Rainbow Tick” scammers and, in journalism, the global propaganda outfit Covering Climate Now requiring their “partners” (all of NZ legacy media) how best to tell us what to think in that regard.
I go out of my way to boycott their products
